Window Clippings 2.0 Released

Sunday 27 May, 2007, 06:28 PM

I've been using Kenny Kerr's excellent Window Clippings screenshot utility for a while. If you're taking screenshots in Vista, it has always done a great job of dealing with the glass and shadow effects used by the Aero Glass theme. Kenny recently announced the release of version 2.0.

This new release adds a bunch of new features. One that I'd been meaning to bug Kenny to add was support for mouse pointers, but now I don't need to pester him. And while lots of other screen grabbers support pointers, most of them don't deal properly with Vista. Vista adds support for a proper alpha channel in mouse pointers, and most of the new pointers exploit this. Most screen grabbers only seem to know about the old binary transparency that we used to be stuck with. Window Clippings gets this new feature right.

There are lots of other new features too. (Note, some of the new features require you to buy a license. However, the main features are stil free.)
